I work primarily in transparent watercolor because its character allows for a wonderful blending of spontaneity and control. Most projects begin with sketches to determine composition, values, and colors. Once these initial decisions are in place, I follow where the watercolor leads me.

Inspiration comes from the natural world, and my focus is on interpreting rather than replicating what I see. The timeless message of God's mystery, beauty, and love is seen throughout his creation. I hope to echo this message in my paintings as well. – Susan Crouch
