"Planning for Spontaneity: Release the Spirit of Watercolor
on a Foundation of Strong Design"
In this workshop you will learn how to plan your paintings with an emphasis on selecting colors, establishing a value pattern, and designing with good shapes. With the planning completed, paint will begin to flow as we use a variety of techniques that best showcase the unique spirit of watercolor. Workshop projects are created with a focus on light, vibrant color, and the practical application of design concepts.

Workshop Comments
"Susan was terrific at teaching the concepts, definitions, and skills. The best color theory I've had." V. - Durham, NC
"Very relaxed, comfortable learning environment. She cared about teaching well and cared that we learned." K. - Spruce Pine, NC
"Even though I have a degree in art and have taught art for 23 years, your explanation of color dominance and value proportion (Papa, Mama and Baby size) was most illuminating and made a complex question suddenly become clear. I liked that your workshop was more than the technical aspect of watercolor. You reminded us of why we create in the first place. J. - Concord, NC
"Enjoyed the afternoon discussions on creativity... More than met my expectations." C. - Hillsborough, NC
"This was a wonderful first workshop for me. I couldn't have been in a more friendly and positive atmosphere." C. - Asheville, NC
